About the Organization

 

The Technion Teaching Staff Organization (TSO) is the recognized labor union representing all teaching staff at the Technion who are not members of the senior academic staff (lecturers, teaching assistants, instructors, etc.).

The purpose of the organization is to represent its members before entities within the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology – and outside of it in the following matters:
 

  • Regulating working conditions and securing collective agreements and arrangements for those represented by the organization.

  • Social rights accompanying employment compensation.

  • Promoting the academic, professional, and economic interests of the organization’s members, and improving the social and other rights granted to them and/or that will be granted to them in the future.

  • Strengthening the mutual connection between the organization’s members and the Technion, and increasing the Technion’s academic and economic commitment toward the organization’s members.

  • Maintaining relations with academic staff organizations in parallel institutions of higher education in Israel and abroad.

  • Maintaining relations and cooperation with the academic staff organizations, labor unions, and the Technion Students Association

 

Members of the Organization and Their Rights

 

The organization is open to lecturers and teaching assistants at the Technion who are not part of the senior faculty, as well as trainees at the Technion Graduate School.
Members of the organization have the right to enjoy all arrangements, discounts, and services determined by the association’s institutions.
Members are entitled to review the association’s documents as stipulated in the bylaws and may submit inquiries to the organization’s officeholders.
Members may submit their candidacy and be elected to the association’s institutions listed below.

 

Organization’s Institutions

  • The General Assembly – The supreme body comprising all members of the association.

  • The Council – The body responsible for managing the organization’s day-to-day affairs, consisting of elected representatives from all academic units at the Technion, based on a numerical key (one representative for every 30 members). The council elects the executive committee, the audit committee, and other committees.

  • The Executive Committee – The executive body of the organization, consisting of three members elected by the council.

  • The Audit Committee – The body that monitors and examines all organizational activities and serves as a contact point for member inquiries.
